Quick, fast casual local mom and pop favorite. Sun Sai Gai serves standard Cantonese diner fare for reasonable prices. Great, quick and attentive staff and service. Bring cash and don't forget to tip!

This restaurant was a godsend. We were touring New York City during the record rainfall on September 29th, 2023. Our clothes and shoes were soaked and our whole group was complaining. I looked across street and saw this restaurant and we dashed in and got the last table before the lunch crowd hit it. The food really hit the spot. Hot and tasty!

Stopped in for a friday late lunch and they were busy! But they made room for my party of 8. They serve you hot tea and the service is quick. We ordered a lot of items and they came out at the same time and quickly. 10/10 recommend supporting this small business!

This is one of my go to places to get Cantonese style barbecue meats in New York City Chinatown. I believe it is cash only though. The best time to come is usually in the mornings before all the tourist are coming in for lunch. It's one of the few places that I can get decently crispy roast pork. They do go by pound, and are pretty accurate with the servings. There's a decent selection of barbecue meats, such as char, Sue, crispy, roast, pork, scallion, chicken, and soy chicken. I believe they also have duck as well, but it is not your crispy Peking duck. It's also a sit down restaurant, were you can get your typical Cantonese food such as wonton noodle soup, combination, barbecue plates, (two types, or three types, over rice), congee, etc. Service is always pretty good, and the staff has always been polite to me. It's a very basic Chinese restaurant, so don't expect the bells and whistles of a fancy Michelin star restaurant. However, some of these places are known to have some of the best tasting foods. I've been coming here to get my barbecue meats for at least three years now. Don't plan on stopping either!

Four stars for the pork special jook and the you tiao! So nice and crispy. The shrimp fun (rice roll) was a bit thick. Will be back for the you tiao and jook!

This is a classic no frills Cantonese restaurant that has been in Chinatown for a long time. Though it is not as old or as famous as some of the other ones, it has been here for at least 35 years. I used to come here as a child a lot and have had many dishes here over the years. I have had all the classics here such as beef chow fun, char siu or roast duck over rice, rice congee, beef noodle soup, pan fried noodles, and much more. They have all been consistently good and authentic quality. And their prices are lower too than the more famous spots. Keep in mind that this is a cash only establishment.
